Pistari
Logic deduction puzzles featuring real historical figures and facts. Combine clues to figure out who's who, and discover curious facts along the way.
Available for iOS and Android
What is Pistari?
A relational puzzle where you deduce who did what, where, when — using only clues and logic.
Each puzzle has a relational grid: rows are real historical figures (Einstein, Marie Curie, Tesla, Newton). Columns are attributes to deduce (country, era, discovery, instrument — whatever fits the theme).
Clues are sentences that combine formal logic with cultural references: a subtle mention of an era, a feature of an instrument, a fact about an art movement. Some are direct ("Curie was born in Poland"), some eliminate ("Faraday isn't Italian"), some chain together ("Tesla was born between Newton and Einstein").
It's not just pure reasoning: you learn something with every puzzle. When you solve it, you discover a curious fact about one of the figures. That's what makes it different from traditional logic puzzles.
How to play
4 steps. The mechanic takes 2 minutes to learn; mastering it, years.
Pick a theme
Art, science, cinema, sports, gastronomy, history, literature, music or geography. Each theme has its own path of puzzles across multiple difficulties.
Read the clues
Each puzzle has 5 to 8 clues. They can affirm ("Curie was born in Poland"), deny ("Newton wasn't Italian") or chain dates and relations.
Mark the grid
Tap a cell to mark ✓ (correct relation) or ✕ (eliminated). Eliminations propagate automatically across rows and columns so you don't lose track.
Solve and discover
When all relations are marked correctly, the puzzle solves itself and a curious fact about one of the figures appears on top. If you want to check without spoilers, you can use Verify ◆ at any moment.
